Abstract

Heart failure remains a disease with a poor prognosis. Cardiac resynchronization therapy device is a special device for heart failure patients are at high risk for sudden cardiac death, to treat slow heart rhythms. Aim: This study evaluated the feasibility of health education program for patients with heart failure regarding an implanted cardiac resynchronization therapy system. Research design: A quasi-experimental research design was used in this study. Sample: Purposive sample involved 100 patients with heart failure. Setting: Heart outpatient clinic at Nasser Institute hospital. Tool for data collection: One tool used is composed of five parts, 1st part: Patients socio-demographic characteristic, 2nd part: Past and current complaints of patients with heart failure, 3rd part: Patients’ knowledge about heart failure disease and cardiac resynchronization therapy system, 4th part: Patients' attitude about cardiac resynchronization therapy, 5th part: Patients' reported practices regarding cardiac resynchronization therapy system. Results: Presented that, 25. 0 % of them had total adequate knowledge pre-program, which become 89.0 % of them had total adequate knowledge post implementing health education program. 13.0% of patient had positive total attitude pre- program. While it converts to 80.0% of them had positive total attitude . Also, 11.0 % of the patients had total competence reported practices pre- program, which improved to 90.0% of them had competence total reported practices . Conclusion: The study concludes that the patients' total knowledge, attitude & total reported practices about heart failure disease and improved after implementation of health education program than pre. Recommendations: Continuous health education
